Procrastinators, Friday is your day to finally start that Christmas shopping. In an effort to give shoppers one final chance to order online before Santa comes, more than 1,000 retailers are participating in Free Shipping Day on Dec. 18.

Participating retailers include everything from superstores like Target and Walmart to independent Etsy stores. Some of the stores require codes to get free shipping, which can be found on the Free Shipping Day website. In order to be listed on the site, merchants must offer free shipping on all items with no minimum.

If you still have to finish your Christmas shopping, you're not alone. According to a survey by the National Retail Federation, the average holiday shopper was only about halfway done with their shopping earlier this week. Free Shipping Day also offers a remedy for those worried about finishing, in addition to free shipping and various deals. The holiday is one of the last chances to have guaranteed delivery by Christmas Eve.

The companion year-round website, freeshipping.org lists codes for tons of deals being offered in conjunction with the holiday, with some offering as much as 50 percent off in addition to the free shipping.

Free Shipping Day was started eight years ago, and first generated $1 billion in 2011, according to the site.
