Shoppers, retailers gear up for Small Business Saturday
Even though it was Black Friday, some shoppers are waiting for even better deals at local stores in what's known as Small Business Saturday.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Even though it was Black Friday, some shoppers are waiting for even better deals at local stores in what's known as Small Business Saturday.

On Black Friday, the shelves are being stocked at Sam's Deli for the big rush on Saturday. There are plenty of deals here, no sales tax on everything, including wine and 20 percent off all gift cards.

"It gives the local people a chance to go onto equal footing with the big boys. It kind of gives us a one edge up and it lets people shop and know their dollars are all being spent locally here," said Phil Grunau with Sam's Deli.

Ivy Home Decor and Ooh La La in River Park are local businesses that are using social media and email to remind customers the deals aren't over after Black Friday ends.

"We're going to be having a lot of door busters, $5 scarves, headbands, good for stocking stuffers," said Rachel Sanchez with Ooh La La.

Some shoppers, like Lisa Phenicie, are doing a lot of browsing and getting gift ideas, with plans to return Saturday for even better prices.

"I like coming into some of the small businesses because sometimes they have some unique things that are different than what some of the other stores have," said Phenicie. "And then it's always nice to get a little extra off as well, off the price."

Hailey Fryer with Ivy Home Decor hopes the incentives and storewide sales motivate shoppers to stock up on Small Business Saturday, instead of Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

"We like to support the community, so we hope that the community will in turn support us as well," said Fryer.
