Bodypaintings by Trina Merry

The scenery of New York City just got a little bit more beautiful, thanks to Trina Merry.

Merry is a New York-based artist who transforms a woman's body into a seamless part of the New York landscape. Merry has transformed her subjects to blend in with NYC icons like the Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, the Guggenheim Museum, amongst others.

The art form is a very detailed and meticulous process, that mainly relies on a model's ability to stay completely still for many hours at a time. New York's enforcement of public nudity is very liberal, with there being no law against a woman being topless in public.

Merry conceived the idea for her human body art after moving from San Francisco to New York, and wanted to engage the city. However, being in the cramped, bustling metroplex that is New York, there are certain challenges that come with painting in public. Weather conditions, public complaints, and countless cab drivers and pedestrians stopping by to stare can often make the project difficult. But Merry's pieces still prove to be an intriguing and evocative look at the Big Apple.
