Blues bands play in Downtown Fresno to benefit the sick
Richie Blue donated a portion of his liver to help another local woman battling liver disease, but since Blue is a musician, friends and family are raising money for his family while he takes time off.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Local blues bands are playing a marathon concert right now to help an organ donor in need.

Richie Blue donated a portion of his liver to help another local woman battling liver disease.

But since Blue is a musician, friends and family are raising money for his family while he takes time off.

Friends say the two are doing well but will need a few months to recover.

"Her liver was failing, she needed a new liver and she went through several donors that didn't pan out and finally one of our local blues musicians stepped up and he was a match," musician Jim "Gumbo" Furnas said.

So to raise money, local blues bands are playing a marathon event at Fulton 55.

It's located at the corner of Divisadero and Fulton Avenues and they're hoping to play throughout the evening.
