Car enthusiasts gather to surprise man battling cancer

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A group of car enthusiasts gathered Wednesday night to surprise a fellow hot rod fan.

Richard Bowman is one of the founding members of Hot Rods of Fresno and he's been fighting cancer for a few years now. His son wanted to throw one last gathering for him and he received an overwhelming response.

More than 60 cars showed up lining Bowman's entire street.

Rian Bowman, Richard's son, "Honestly I would have been happy with five, six people. Having 75 to 100 people here it blew my mind. I never could have asked for that-- that was just incredible."

Rian said his dad does not have many good days right now and today was a good day.
