Clovis couple hopes to make sick teen's Disney World dream come true

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Clovis couple getting married over the weekend is using their big day as a way to give back to a deserving valley teenager.

Savannah Groeneveld and Josh Wetzel have asked guests to their wedding to consider making a donation to a fund benefiting a young girl, born with a congenital heart defect.

Kaitlyn is 15 years old and has undergone three surgeries, including a heart transplant.

She's well now and asked to go to Disney World with her family through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

On their wedding website, Groeneveld and Wetzel have posted a link to a page dedicated to the Hanford girl to help make that wish a reality.

"I think it's amazing and I think it's the tradition of giving back," Make-A-Wish Foundation director Diana Rambo said. "This couple said they had everything they needed, then they wanted to bring joy to somebody else."

The bride-to-be says she got the idea to offer this registry option from her mom and stepdad who did the same thing when they got married 18 years ago.

Right now, they are just about $400 away from their $5,000 goal. This money would go towards the cost of flying, hotel accommodations and other expenses for the trip to the theme park.
