Within hours of two Los Banos officers being shot in the line of duty Monday, other law enforcement agencies were already reaching out to support their brothers in blue.

"I think my phone rang probably 50 times on Monday from police officers and associations up and down the state," said Paul Llanes, Police Officers Association.

Gratitude in the form of flowers and cards continue to flood the Los Banos Police Department while the officers recover. The two were shot during a struggle with Norberto Reyes on Monday. Commander Ray Reyna said since then, officers from different parts of the country have called sending their thoughts and prayers.

"It's truly humbling-- it makes you feel like it truly is a brotherhood."

Reyna said an officer is at the hospital with the families 24/7. The Police Officer Association said they have been getting constant donations-- their main priority is helping the family heal.

"Getting them a hotel, having food delivered, making sure kids get to school-- we're gonna help them take care of it," said Llanes.

Other agencies in town said they have reached out to officers and are ready to lend a hand.

"We will provide food, transportation, whatever we can provide, whatever we can we will do for them," said Mason Hurley, Los Banos Fire Department.

Officers said both the officers are communicating and talking.

Surina Gonzales was one of the responding officers involved and she said what matters most is the officers' well-being.

"It was horrific-- I'm glad the guys are doing good, and because they're doing good, I'm going to be good."

As far as the suspect who died, the Merced County Coroner's Office said the toxicology report could take a few weeks.

The investigation is still ongoing and officers are not releasing or confirming any of the officer's names yet.

If you want to help you are asked to call the Los Banos Police Department.
