FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The sights, sounds, even smells of fair preparations in Fresno are typically reserved for October. For the first time, organizers of the Big Fresno Fair have teamed up with Universal Fairs out of Tennessee to bring you your fair fix months ahead of schedule

"Anytime we can bring a family friendly event to the Big Fresno Fair, were going to do it," said Stacy Rianda, Big Fresno Fair Deputy Manager.

The four-day Fresno Spring Fair will feature most of the big attractions-- like carnival rides, food, and entertainment.

"Fairs aren't just about foods or rides, it's about the impact it has on the community," said Augie Magdaleno, Country Fair Cinnamon Rolls.

As for the economic impact, the Big Fresno Fair generates about $68.2-million between hotel and other travel expenses. Not to mention boosting business for locally owned restaurants like Jimenez Mexican Food.

"The fair is good for us, for the neighbors it's good," said Fermin Jimenez, Jimenez Mexican Food Owner.

Jimenez said their family has had the Boyd and Kings Canyon location since 1992 and traditionally sees a spike in customers come October.

"There's more people in this area, we have more customers, new customers, that are coming for the fair," said Jimenez.

Because this is the first Fresno Spring Fair he said he isn't sure what to expect but plans to add two to his staff for the four-day run.
