Fresno senior community kicks off holiday toy drive
Valley residents are getting a head start on making the holiday brighter for children in need.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Valley residents are getting a head start on making the holiday brighter for children in need.

Fairwinds Woodward Park senior community kicked off its toy drive Wednesday morning in Northeast Fresno. Members of the Fresno City College women's soccer team were there to help collect donations. Those who donated a new toy received muffins and coffee.

Wednesday's drive wrapped up at 10 p.m., but they'll be collecting toys through December 15.

"We're hoping to get thousands. We're hoping to get as many as possible for the kids," Fairwinds program supervisor Nick Jones said.

This is just one of many other official drop-off locations for Toys for Tots.

Also, ABC30 is a sponsor of the Toys for Tots Marathon Weekend, which will be held December 5-7 at River Park.
