Fresno senior living community holds Toys for Tots drive
The effort to support Toys for Tots is still going strong in the Valley.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The effort to support Toys for Tots is still going strong in the Valley.

On Sunday, Oakmont of Fresno held a toy drive with help from the Marine Corps League, Cal Fire and United Way Volunteers. They collected boxes full of toys and cash donations all afternoon.

The senior living community is new to the area, and staff members say they want to give back to local families in a meaningful way.

"There's a lot of underprivileged children here in the Valley. Oakmont is a family-owned business, and we feel really strongly about kids having a great happy holiday and Merry Christmas," said Valerie Epps, Oakmont of Fresno's executive director.

The goal this year is to collect enough to help 90,000 Valley children. Toys for Tots is hoping to receive donations through Monday but will continue to take items through December 24.
