Hmongstory 40 exhibit debuts in Merced

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- What is called one of the most historical displays of Hmong culture has launched in Merced.

The Hmongstory 40 exhibit opened at the Merced County Fairgrounds Saturday.

The free exhibit holds everything from pictures to CIA documents on the secret war in Laos.

It shares the history of Hmong refugees who migrated to the Central Valley in 1975 after the Vietnam War.

"This is such a remarkable effort by so many individuals that it's a real opportunity to see something very spectacular," Lar Yang with Hmongstory 40 said.

The opening ceremony included speakers such as Merced County Superior Court Judge Paul C. Lo and other city leaders.

The exhibit will run in Merced through May 15.
