Many DMV offices throughout California still experiencing major computer failure

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Services at the Department of Motor Vehicles offices across the state are on hold. Nearly 100 field offices are closed due to a major computer failure.

People showed up at the DMV office on Olive and Weber Avenues in Central Fresno Wednesday morning and computer systems were not working, but they were able to use a self-serve kiosk.

According to the DMV, website service was restored this afternoon to that office but many others are still down.

DMV officials said crews rebuilt the system after the outage began on Monday due to a hardware failure.

The DMV also said online services are still up and running, but there is no word on when full operations will be restored.
