VISALIA, Calif. (KFSN) -- A South Valley veteran and truck driver are teaming up to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Jorge Velazquez and Shawn Cary recently connected through social media, and plan to collect a variety of items in Visalia on Thursday.
The collection event will be held in the parking lot behind Sears off Mooney Boulevard, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. They say they could use volunteers to help.
As far as donations go, they could use things like water, clothes, canned food, toiletries, diapers, and baby wipes.
"Whatever you would actually buy in a grocery store, bring it to us, we'll get it boxed up, and we will get it to Houston to a designated area," Cary said.
Cary says he will depart for Houston once his truck is filled to capacity.
