With the 4th of July approaching non-profits gear up to sell fireworks
We're now less than a week away from all of the 4th of July festivities and with that comes the start of firework sales.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- We're now less than a week away from all of the 4th of July festivities and with that comes the start of firework sales.

Fireworks stands are open as of Tuesday. Sales begin at noon and they're already gearing up.

A lot of the firework stands around the Valley are run by non-profits. Some organizations wait years, like Boys 2 Men Girls 2 Women. They have been on the waiting list for 11 years now. The sale can help the organization raise thousands of dollars in much-needed funds.

Firefighters want to remind people to stay 20 feet away from structures when setting off fireworks. Also, keep a garden hose ready just in case a fire starts or at least a five-gallon bucket to submerge fireworks to make sure they are fully distinguished. Firefighters also say the person handling the fireworks should be at least 16. And, make sure you have a phone available to call firefighters if you need them.
