Bataller: After Further Review

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- After further review, I think the Fresno State offense may have finally clicked in Saturday night's 56-16 win over Southern Utah.

I get it: The FCS Thunderbirds aren't exactly the best defensive gauge to get a definitive answer. But my reasoning is simple: In the first quarter against Southern Utah, the Bulldogs again looked out of sync, again did not score, again found themselves down early.

And midway through the second quarter, everything changed. The quarterbacks started hitting open receivers, the running backs found holes, and the Bulldogs started scoring touchdowns. All against the same Thunderbird defense that stymied Fresno State in the first quarter.

Hopefully Fresno State can carry whatever it is they figured out into Friday night's Mountain West opener at New Mexico.
