Bulldog fans leave sold-out home opener early
A lot of fans left Saturday's game disappointed, but some more optimistic than others.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Saturday's Fresno State-Nebraska game was not over yet, but Bulldog fans were leaving the stadium faster than you could say "Go Big Red."

"We love the 'Dogs, we want them to win," David Hoffman told Action News during the Bulldogs' sold-out home opener. "But we also realize that our friends and family are here from Nebraska, and if the 'Dogs are not going to win then it's OK. We're going to go home, and just hang out and have fun."

Many Fresno State supporters weren't expecting a win against a top 25 college football team, but they were hopeful for at least a fight against Nebraska.

"Hopefully they pick up the pace and can make it a better deal as we get into the conference play," said Kyle Dadson.

Cornhusker fans on the other hand said they liked hanging out in Bulldog territory.

"The Fresno fans have been awesome, really warm and respectful. So we haven't felt out of place at all," said Ashley Rue.

Both teams starting the good sportsmanship at a young age.

"We've enjoyed coming out to Fresno State," said Sean Caudill. "We've interacted with a lot of really good fans, and that's honestly the most important as far as coming out and playing a football game."

A Fresno firefighter said at least six people were treated for heat-related injuries.
