RENO, Nevada -- Brian Burrell passed for 313 yards and accounted for five touchdowns in Fresno State's 40-20 win at Nevada on Saturday night.

Burrell ran for 56 yards and score as the Bulldogs (5-6, 4-3) kept their Mountain West Conference championship hopes alive on Nevada's Senior Night.

Nevada quarterback Cody Fajardo scored on runs of 55 and 60 yards, but was just 11-for-24 passing for 126 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Josh Quezada ran for 119 yards on 24 carries and Greg Watson had 89 yards receiving and a touchdown on four receptions for Fresno State, which scored 24 points off of four Nevada (6-5, 3-4) turnovers.

Fresno State can claim a Mountain West Conference west division title, and advance to conference championship game on Dec. 6, with a victory next week at home against Hawaii.

Nevada was eliminated from the MWC championship race.

Fresno State had 551 total yards and 16 more first downs than Nevada (29-13).

Nevada, which hadn't lost a fumble all season, lost three on Saturday -- the first of which set up a 19-yard touchdown pass from Burrell to Josh Harper to make it 7-0 with 3:29 left in the first quarter.

Fajardo, among Nevada's leaders in several offensive categories, had 142 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 13 carries in the first half, but was held to just 23 yards as the Wolf Pack went scoreless after the break.

Trailing 28-20, Nevada's Jerico Richardson fumbled on the opening drive of the third quarter.

Five plays later, Burrell found Aaron Peck for a 26-yard touchdown to seal it.

Peck finished four receptions for 71 yards and two touchdowns.
