FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A familiar face is back in Fresno living out his professional baseball dream.

Former Fresno State Bulldog Trent Woodward who was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 20th round in the 2014 draft is now one step away from the big leagues playing for the Fresno Grizzlies.

Action News caught up with the 23-year-old Southern California native who played with Fresno State in 2014 is thrilled to be back in the Central Valley as the Grizzlies are in position to make run deep in the playoffs.

It's been wild ride with a lot of travel in his first season of pro-ball, but he's thankful for each step of the way.

"So, I started spring training. Went to extended spring training. Got extended, went to Corpus Christi, then I got sent back to extended spring training. Then I went to short-season A. Then I went to low A. Now, I'm in Fresno. It's been unbelievable. I never would have thought that I'd end up in Fresno at any point during the season and then come back to Fresno where I've spent some time in college. It's an unbelievable experience." said Woodward.
