FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Spend just a couple minutes at a Fresno City Rams football practice and you will notice and feel it.

"I think if we teach tempo in camp and if we do things fast all the time then we want go fast we will be able to do that. We want to go fast, we like to slow it down to and to be able to play at a high speed for 4 quarters we have to be able to practice that way," said head coach Tony Caviglia.

"We want to be physical up at the line, in the 1st quarter we want the defense to be hurting, the offense to be hurting because they know what we brought to the table," said offensive lineman Kyle Horton.

On the table is a wins record for head coach Tony Caviglia, who enters the season with 136 wins at Fresno City, tied for the most in program history.

"That's my first time hearing that, makes me want to compete that much harder. I know that makes our teammates want to compete harder so we can get that win for Coach C," said wide receiver Marcus Rose.

The Rams will have a new quarterback this season, gone is Christian Rossi who is now at Fresno State.

"We got 2 guys in there and a third that's in there with them. It's really a two-man race with Andrew Zimmerman and Anthony Monken. Both of them are superior football players, they are big, they are strong, they are smart, it's been a pretty good battle this camp," said Caviglia.

Every time the Rams hit the practice field they are reminded of two key words and it's right on their backs, finish and compete.

"We put finish on the back of the offensive players because that's important for us to finish drives, finish in the red zone. Defense is about competing, we want to compete on every play, we want to be the best on every play, we can't take a play off," said Caviglia.
