Fresno Grizzlies gear up for Taco Truck Throwdown 5 at Chukchansi Park

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Fresno Grizzlies are on a hot streak this season, and on Tuesday they announced they'll be adding a little spice to the next Taco Truck Throwdown.

Tuesday morning at Chukchansi Park in Downtown Fresno, the Grizzlies held a preview of next month's event. The Throwdown will feature nearly 20 taco trucks from all over the Valley, and people will get to choose their favorite.

Organizers hope this year's event will be even bigger than last year -- when they sold over 27,000 tacos. And now the players will be getting in on the action.

"I am very proud to announce that on August 6 for Taco Truck Throwdown 5, the Fresno Grizzlies, your first-place Fresno Grizzlies, will officially take the field as the Fresno Tacos," said Derek Franks, general manager of the Grizzlies.

On the night of the Taco Truck Throwdown, the team will wear taco-themed hats and jerseys. Organizers hope the new jerseys will attract fans to watch the game while eating tacos.

The event will take place on Thursday, Aug. 6, when the Sacramento River Cats come to town.
