Good Sports - Fresno Curb Kings

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- In August, the International Olympic Committee announced skateboarding would be added to the 2020 Toyko games. Skateboarding was the sport of choice in downtown Fresno this past weekend.

"Essentially Red Bull Curb Kings is a contest that goes on multiple cities, they make different stops," said Active Ride Shop Fresno Manager J.P. Gentry.

Including the Central Valley bringing some of the best local skaters to Bitwise South Stadium

in downtown Fresno for a showcase.

"Obviously within the skateboard community being able to tell friends that you won, placed or even entered a Red Bull event is big-time clout," said Gentry.

"Fresno-bred you know, we have to represent where we come from this huge community is just getting bigger," said skateboarder and Fresno native Bobby Roberts III.

As it applies in real-estate, so it does in skating: location, location location.

"Because we get so many sunny days and rain free days in Fresno, California obviously we are vast spread out city there is a ton of concrete a ton of unused features," said Gentry.

Providing a life-changing experience whether you are a pro or amateur.

"Now being all over the world, I'm a professional skateboarder, I help my family. This is my career, this my sport. Skateboarding just bringing everything over to me, my friends, my family, it's taught me everything in life," said professional skateboarder Felipe Gustavo.

"Skating has changed my life in so many different ways. Not only do I have the mentality to get up after I fall, it may be 100 times, it may be 3 hours in. I make sure I get in and accomplish my goal. That's what made me do anything in my life and has carried as far as I can think," said Roberts III.
