Good Sports: Fresno State Football Senior Day

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- There are certain games and moments that athletes remember for a lifetime. For a college football player, Senior Day holds a special meaning.

Fresno State senior long snapper reflects on his four years in a Bulldogs uniform, "Incredibly fast, crazy how fast the 4 years went and thinking about it is insane."

For 18 seniors, Saturday's game against Colorado State will be the last time they wear the Bulldog uniform.

"A lot of my greatest memories in life come with me wearing that Fresno red. It definitely is going to be a big deal for me, I know it will be a big deal for the rest of the seniors," said senior linebacker Ejiro Ederaine.

Saturday also marks a chance for several seniors to reach career individual milestones including Ederaine and senior running back Marteze Waller.

"To see guys at the end of their of careers, like Marteze he's 4 yards away from getting 3,000 yards, I think is a great testament to him and our offensive line. Ejiro is 2.5 tackles for loss away from setting a career," said Bulldogs Head Coach Tim DeRuyter.

No matter where life takes a player after football, Senior Day is a memory that last forever. Current Oakland Raiders quarterback and Fresno State class of 2013 member Derek Carr remembers his final game in front of the home crowd fondly.

"The warm reception you get when they say your name for the last time in bulldog stadium and all those good things, it was a surreal feeling for me. But it was a dream come true for sure."

Ederaine who play his final game on Saturday, says the end the relationships they've built over the past four years will stand the test of time.

"I always tell the guys it's a lifelong commitment, being a bulldog is a lifelong thing, these are friends I have for life."
