FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- What makes this the best fan base in the league?

"I think what makes us the best in the nation and not just the league is that we really are a community," Stephen Mayu with Fire Squad Fresno exclaimed.

Known as Fire Squad Fresno, a group of Fresno Fuego fans decided to take their level of support to the next level.

"We started out in 2013," Andrew Ueland said. "Became a season ticket holder. There was maybe 20 to 30 of us, and each year we've really grown."

Now the numbers are well over 200 fans. With as many as 400-plus filling a special section of Chukchansi Park designated for the Fire Squad.

On gameday, they will meet at Tioga Sequoia and then Ueland says "at 7 o'clock, we'll march into the stadium and that's when things get real fun."

They're making their famed march from across the street to the stadium all leading up to game time.

"When we play at home, we feel their energy," player Renato Bustamante said. "We feel their passion. We feel their excitement. We feel the commitment they have for our team."

And things get really loud when this happens.

"When the ball hits the net, it sends people into a huge frenzy," Ueland said.

"The atmosphere when we get a goal is outstanding," Bustamante said. "We get chants, we get drums, we get people screaming."

"Blast off the requisite smoke too and put that red color in the air," coach Brian Zwaschka said. "Just remind our opponents that we are here to play, and it becomes such an intimidating environment."

It's a fan base that is all inclusive for anyone that wants to have a good time.

"We tell people if you bring a friend, they are going to be like I want to go back, I want to do that again that was so much fun," Ueland said.
