Former Fresno Grizzlies pitcher looking to make debut with Angels

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- It's not often that an opposing player causes a buzz at Chukchansi Park, but when you are former Fresno Grizzlies starting pitcher Tim Lincecum, fans make an exception to the rule.

"It's rare that you get it but it's nice to see it here and it reminds me what it's like to be in the game and be good again," said Lincecum.

Lincecum played with Fresno in 2007 before being called up to the San Francisco Giants, where he won 2 NL Cy Young awards and 3 world championships.

"It's pretty crazy, obviously, the following is still here and the people that were there in 2007 when I was here, are still here, it's pretty great and the baseball community is big here and it follows from San Francisco," said Lincecum.

Now at 32 years old, Lincecum is looking to restart his career, as a starting pitcher with the Angels but will always remember his time in Fresno.

"These fans have always been really good to me, so I try to return that and not take it for granted. The only obviously on the other side of the dugout, not wearing the Fresno colors anymore, it felt just like years, past just getting out there competing and having a good time," he said.

Lincecum is scheduled to make his debut with the Angels on Saturday, June 18th in Oakland.
