FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- University of Oregon executive senior associate athletic director Jim Bartko has been named the new athletic director at Fresno State.

University officials introduced Bartko, 49, during a news conference Friday morning.

Bartko has spent most of his administrative career with the Ducks and is known as a guy who can raise money, which is something the Bulldogs were looking for in that position.

"I am honored to have this opportunity and want to express my gratitude and excitement about the future," Bartko said. "Fresno State presents a tremendous opportunity, not only professionally, but personally, as it brings me home to my roots. The Central Valley has strong values and great spirit, with the potential for incredible success.

He replaces Thomas Boeh, who announced in August he was giving up his position to be the assistant to the university president. Boeh had been the school's athletic director for the past nine years.
