Former Orlando Magic general manager Otis Smith has met with Sacramento Kings officials about the franchise's vacant vice president of basketball operations job, league sources told ESPN.

The Kings are searching for a new No. 2 executive to report to general manager Vlade Divac.

Scott Perry, the Kings' previous VP of basketball operations, left for the New York Knicks earlier this month.

Smith has spent the past two years as a coach in the Pistons organization, with the G League Grand Rapids team and on Stan Van Gundy's Pistons staff in 2016-17. He also spent six years as the Magic GM, including a 299-177 regular-season record and a trip to the 2009 NBA Finals.

In the aftermath of the Dwight Howard saga, Smith was dismissed in 2012.
