The sinkhole forced Caltrans to shut down the northbound lanes for two to three days. A spokesperson for Caltrans said they received a call just before 8:00 this morning. That's when they closed one lane. But as the investigation continued, they closed all northbound I5 lanes.

While on the surface the whole was originally three to five feet wide underneath, the sinkhole expands from the shoulder lane all the way to the number one lane.

All northbound lanes are closed near Highway 132. Authorities are asking drivers to take Highway 132 to Highway 33 instead.
