FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The recent snow was enough for Badger Pass Ski Area in Yosemite to open for the season on Sunday.

Park concessionaire, Delaware North, said the area received more than 20 inches of snow during the storm on Thursday and Friday -- enabling it to open for the ski and snowboarding season.

Managers say four of the lifts are open, and all but one of the runs are open. The tubing hill is still closed until the area gets even more snow.

The free shuttle service between Badger Pass and Yosemite Valley lodging also began on Sunday.

ABOUT BADGER PASS SKI AREA

Founded in 1935, Yosemite's Badger Pass Ski Area is California's first ski resort and the perfect ski destination for families. Badger Pass is the gateway to some of the most beautiful vistas in the High Sierra, offering five convenient lifts and spacious, groomed runs for downhill skiers and snowboarders, in addition to snowshoeing, snow tubing and cross-country ski trails. The Yosemite Ski School was established in 1928 and has taught generations of first-time skiers. Badger Pass Ski Area is operated by Delaware North at Yosemite, authorized National Park Service concessionaire, responsible for lodging, dining, guest recreation, retail and transportation in Yosemite.
