Two years after Emily Demello lost her camera while on vacation in Cuba, a scuba diver found it in the ocean and reunited Demello with her photos.

In January 2012, 21-year-old marketing student Emily was standing in just two feet of salt water on a Varadero beach when a massive wave knocked her waterproof camera out of her hand.

Before embarking on her vacation to Cuba, Emily's father had given her the waterproof, shockproof Olympus Tough digital camera, because -- as she puts it -- she's "extremely clumsy."

After searching for it for 20 minutes with friends Madisen Singer and Hailey Olson, Emily was heartbroken to admit that the camera -- and all of the precious photos -- were lost to the sea. Emily's father claimed the camera was "Emily-proof," but that did not appear to be true that day.

Two years later, Emily received a Facebook Friend Request, and a message, from a man she had never met before, named Ruben Urquiza:

"Hi Emily, i am from Cuba, my name is Ruben, i know that you was in my country in 2012 because i am a diver in Varadero and i foud your camera in the beach, please accept me in your facebook friends and i will send you your pictures! i am sorry my bad english, have a nice sunday!"

"I first thought it was just some stranger wanting to be friends on Facebook but as I read the message I realized he had actually found my camera!" Emily told ABC.

Ruben said that the camera was damaged, though the memory card was still intact.

Out of more than 100 photos and video clips on the memory card, just one of them was a photo of Emily's boarding pass with her name printed on it. A few months after Ruben discovered the camera in the ocean, he acquired internet access and found Emily online.

After introducing himself, Ruben returned all of the photos and video back to Emily.

"I told my friends Hailey and Maddy right away and we were so excited to get the photos back," Emily told ABC. "It seems like a story straight out of a movie. I'm so happy he even took the time to find me and send me all the files."
