Holiday travel expected to increase as gas prices remain low
Millions of people are gearing up for holiday road trips starting Monday morning.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Millions of people are gearing up for holiday road trips starting Monday morning.

It's expected to be a recording breaking year out on the roads because of the huge drop in gas prices. About a 100 million people are expected to travel this holiday season, with about 90-percent doing it by car.

Local economist Kenneth Nishimoto says families will see big savings. "Over time we will see people traveling more, buying bigger vehicles... money for lodging, meals out and so forth."

Nishimoto says there's already been a big increase in the demand for SUV's and bigger vehicles now that gas prices are much lower.
