FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A fast moving storm swept through the valley Wednesday. It caused some minor flooding and brought strong winds.

At the edge of the storm in Caruthers in Fresno County. Strong wind was kicking up dust across the road and the sky was lighting up in the distance.

In Mendota, there was minor flooding. A viewer recorded cell phone video of it and tweeted it at Action News.

To the south, in Riverdale, there was heavy rain and flooded fields.

Larry Bayse said, "It came out of nowhere-- all of a sudden we just saw the black clouds."

He says his drive home to Lemoore from work was scary.

"It was just blowing all over the freeway," Bayse said, "it picked up and you could actually feel it swinging the back end of the truck around."

In the North Valley, in Merced, a truck hydroplaned on Highway 99 just north of 16th Avenue. The driver, Collin Davis, lost control and rolled through a fence.

"I knew once I hit the curb, it was gonna go over," Davis said.

He was on his way to Modesto and says there was so much water, the highway looked like a river was running through it. CHP officers say he was also driving a little too fast.

Davis said, "I just tried to hold on and kind of jam myself in my seat."

Fortunately, he had his seatbelt on, "Yeah, I'm grateful," and he walked away with just cuts and scrapes, "I guess in '91, they built good trucks then too," Davis said.
