Typhoon Sarika makes landfall; Haima close behind

Typhoon Sarika has been battering China's Hainan province, with torrential rain causing flooding and evacuations.

The typhoon has cased the displacement of more than 500,000 people as they evacuated from the path of the storm. "The typhoon made landfall Tuesday morning with sustained winds of 80 miles per hour and gusts as nearly high as 100 miles per hour," according to AccuWeather.

The typhoon has also caused widespread damage to the Philippines, leaving two people dead and thousands homeless. Another storm, known as typhoon Haima, is following right behind Sarika and could bring winds of over 130 miles per hour when it makes landfall in the Philippines later this week, AccuWeather said.
