Minutes after its midnight deadline to get electricity restored at the world's busiest airport Georgia Power got the power back on at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Officials say the sudden power outage was caused by a fire in an underground electrical facility which brought the entire airport to a standstill.

More than 1,000 flights were grounded causing hundreds of travelers to miss flights and sit on the tarmac for hours.

Georgia Power tweeted that they are now delivering meals to passengers stranded at the airport.
