14-year-old charged with murder in deadly Merced shooting

MERCED, Calif. (KFSN) -- A 14-year-old boy has officially been charged with murder in connection to the deadly shooting of a 22-year-old man in Merced.

Merced police arrested the teen last week. The shooting happened on February 10 on West 11th and M Streets around 3:15 pm.

Police believe the victim, a 22-year-old Adrian Llamas, was sitting in his car when the teenager shot him. Investigators said the shooting was gang-related.

The Merced County District Attorney's Office says the murder charges against the teen were filed in a juvenile court, but prosecutors have petitioned for the case to be tried in adult court.
