FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- To perform in games, it's equally important to perform in practice.

On a October afternoon in preparations for another big match, Fresno City College Women's Soccer Head Coach Oliver Germond rounds up his team for a drill, "Listen we are going to go 10 vs 8, so the attacking team will be on this side attacking that goal."

The Rams have been in "attack mode" for the better part of the last decade, ""Well we've won conference 9 years in a row and we've been either the number 1 or number 2 seed for 9 years in a row in Northern California," Germond explains.

Add to that the Rams are currently ranked number one in the country by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) with roster full of local talent.

Central High product, Alyssa Lugo, said, "In high school I didn't get as much opportunity to showcase and now I'm having better opportunities coming here."

Ruth Galvan, a Woodlake High grad added, "Knowing that Oliver is and he's dedicated to help us move on to 4-years (colleges), it's really important, knowing that I have more doors opened for me coming to this program is pretty legit."

The overall team chemistry has the Rams in prime position for another deep run in the playoffs and after losing last year's state title game, the team has one goal in mind, "It's our main goal to get back to the championship and hopefully take it this year," said Lugo.
