California Highway Patrol said a driver under the influence rear-ended a diesel truck with his car on Highway 99.

EARLIMART, Calif. (KFSN) -- California Highway Patrol said a driver under the influence rear-ended a diesel truck with his car on Highway 99 just north of Earlimart.

Officials said he hit it so hard that the truck carrying gas and diesel burst into flames. The driver of that diesel truck was not hurt.

CHP said the other driver was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia where his condition is unknown.

Both lanes southbound lanes of Highway 99 were closed as crews work to remove the diesel that spilled into the road.
