A Mother's Story|Miss United Hmong 2016

Guest: Na Vang/Miss United Hmong 2016

A Hmong mother never had a picture of her baby when he was alive in Thailand. Learn how she finally got the chance to see a picture of him in Fresno more than a quarter of a century later.

Miss United Hmong 2016 is on a mission to help residents enroll in health coverage. She works at the Fresno Center for New Americans. Nu Vang is fluent in Hmong and reaches out to others in the Hmong community to give them information about no cost or lost cost health insurance. Go to http://www.fresnobhc.org/getcovered/ to look at options. You can also call the Fresno Center for New Americans at (559) 255-8395.

Free Clinic Shuttle|Foster College Students

A free shuttle is helping patients get to their doctor's appointments. The shuttle runs to Adventist clinics started in Hanford and Lemoore and recently expanded service to Dinuba, Reedley, Orosi and Orange Cove.

Fresno City College is the only community college in the Central Valley to get a more than $1 million grant that's geared specifically towards helping foster youth succeed in college. Officials hope the money breaks down their barriers.
