Keeping track of food and exercise
Keeping a log of how much you eat and exercise may truly surprise you.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Keeping a log of how much you eat and exercise may truly surprise you. Here are a few rules to get you started.

Select foods that are nutrient dense. A diet, rich in lean protein and low in good complex carbs is most effective. Be sure to measure everything you eat. You will be surprised at how quickly a few extra bites here and there add up!

Exercise consistently and always keep pushing to do a little more, but be patient with yourself as you learn how your body works. Exercise daily if it's walking or cycling or whatever you enjoy and do it as often as possible. It will keep you YOUNG.

Keep logging in meals and steps. It gets you into good habits. Don't beat yourself up if you go slightly off track occasionally. It happens to everyone at some point. Just pick yourself up and start again. I don't deny myself. I have good days and I have bad days, just keep going and DON'T GIVE UP!

Tracking keeps you accountable, and seeing what you eat will make you want to do better the next day. Most importantly, YOU CAN DO IT!! Good Luck. You've got this!
