TRAFFIC ALERT: Clovis and Herndon Intersection partially closed due to water main break
The Clovis Police Department says the intersection of Clovis and Herndon is partially closed for a water main break.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Clovis Police Department says the intersection of Clovis and Herndon was closed for a water main break.

The intersection has since partially reopened.

This intersection will remain cluttered for the foreseeable future.

Crews spent the day uncovering the pipe and digging eight feet underground while trying to find the exact location of the leak.

City officials say it could be days before the intersection is fully re-opened to traffic.

In a picture posted to their social media accounts, you can see lots of standing water.

Even though the break itself has been repaired -- the road probably will not re-open until next Tuesday.

The water pressure below ground damaged the pavement, so it has to be back-filled and repaved.

But the asphalt company does not operate over the weekend.

In the meanwhile, workers are asking for drivers to take alternate routes. There is a chance additional lanes out will open up in the coming days, but it depends on the extent of the damage below the road.

Crews are there trying to get it fixed, but at there is currently no time frame for when it will fully reopen.
