Thanks for the Tree event gives Christmas trees to local military families

Fresh Christmas trees were given away Saturday to local families with family members who are away serving in the military.

The third annual Thanks for the Tree event gave at least fifty families the chance to have a Christmas tree in their home for the holidays.

Local businesses and other sponsors came together to give those families the chance to celebrate the holidays without worrying about the price involved in buying a tree.

Most of the families served Saturday have a family member that will be serving overseas for more than a year.

Sponsors also say they are grateful for the opportunity to honor our service members and their families and use the trees to thank them for their service.
