FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- With the enthusiasm of a pep rally, black colleges and universities admitted students and awarded scholarships at Fresno Unified School District's Black College Expo.

Students we spoke with were pleased to be able to consider multiple offers.

"I got accepted to two colleges, one was Charles Drew another was one in Texas and I'm excited and I want to see what opportunities I can get from this event," student, Julia Arreloa, said.

While the schools are known as historically black colleges and universities they accept all races and ethnic groups, most like Alabama State are located in the south.

Students got to shop for schools, application fees were waived and the whole idea was to give students a chance.
