California Highway Patrol officers are investigating after two people were killed and one other was critically injured in a crash in Tulare County on Tuesday morning.

Witnesses told the CHP that a 2010 Prius was driving erratically on Road 80 while traveling south toward Visalia.

Officers say other drivers slowed as the Prius weaved through traffic to pass cars, reaching speeds up to 100 miles per hour.

As the 20-year-old driver of the Prius reached the intersection on Avenue 328, he crashed into the back of a commercial farming truck.

A 17-year-old girl in the backseat of the Prius died at the scene, officials say. She wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

The 20-year-old driver and a 16-year-old passenger were rushed to Kaweah Delta Medical Center with critical injuries. CHP officers say the driver later died at the hospital.

Investigators found a loaded gun inside the car and marijuana plants spread across the crash site.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
