FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- It is a new chapter for The Vineyards at the California Armenian Home Senior Living Community.

The new three-story building stands tall, inside the floors have been polished with and even has the Armenian alphabet.

Residents are moving in and taking tours at the newest senior community.

"The need today is more demanding than ever," said The Vineyards Executive Director George Juarez.

Juarez says a growing number of seniors are looking for places to live and enjoy their golden days.

The California Armenian home of directors pushed to make this a reality.

"It's not going away, but it's changed dramatically. What you're seeing with seniors today is first they are healthy they like lifelong learning opportunities and they're fit. So what you have happening today is a hospitality driven environment for seniors," said Dennis Bacopulous, project manager for California Armenian Home Board of Directors.

The Vineyards features a movie theater, wine bar, and lounge area. We got a look at the independent rooms, which start at more than $2,000 a month.

They also have private residences called Villas.

Directors say the California Armenian home will continue to care for its residents and both facilities will serve seniors.

"It still serves its Armenian community. It still serves the community, it's not just for the Armenians," said Juarez.

The campus offers a continuum of care with skilled nursing, memory care, assisted living and independent living.

The Vineyards are a $42 million project.

"It is all privately funded and I think that is an amazing testimony not just the legacy but the support of the Armenian community and the community as a whole," said Bacopulous.

The expansion will also bring an additional 70 jobs to the campus.

If all goes well at The Vineyards, directors say they could expand. A 20-acre parcel of land could be the next senior living community.
