The summertime program offers children free meals and literacy activities at public libraries during the summer. It's the program's third year, and this summer it's expanding to six libraries.

"The idea of being able to hand a book to a child that they can take home and become their own, because so many of these kids don't have books at home, so this is exciting," said librarian Laurel Prysiazny.
Last summer, about 3,000 students participated. Organizers are expecting more students to attend since more campuses are taking part.
