SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (KFSN) -- San Francisco police are patrolling the waters at Aquatic Park Cove to keep swimmers out.

The closure comes after two people were bitten by a sea lion in the area within 24 hours.

The latest incident happened Friday morning when the water was filled with swimmers. In both incidents, the two victims of the sea lion attack were sent to the hospital. Park rangers say incidents like this are extremely unusual.

The last time people were bitten by a sea lion at Aquatic Park was about 11 years ago.
