So, I'm naming H-a-v-a-r-t-i cheese as the one to keep an eye out for.
It's a golden, creamy, mellow, semi-soft cheese with little tiny holes, and everybody will remember that super creaminess with every bite.
Years ago, it was sold mostly in specialty food stores.
Today, our American producers have it right in our supermarkets bigger than ever. And it's never boring because of all the varieties we'll find.
Well, first, the plain havarti is heaven itself, but there's also some flavored with pesto or jalapeño, or here's my new little flavor favorite with horseradish, chives and crunchy mustard seeds! Mmm mmm!
Oh, and this one's another favorite – with dill.
And we can find our havarti in chunks and in wedges in the dairy case or, for slicing, at the deli counter.
All of them are great for sandwiches or snacking, you know…like on our cheese board, or cubed and passed around for a simple hors d'oeuvre, or for topping on a salad.
And oh, it melts so smoothly! I mean, besides for omelets and casseroles, another "simple" is to top some sliced French bread with it, and under the broiler it goes for a couple of minutes – that way, it's a whole party!
Then, with everyone loving havarti, that means everyone gives it an anytime, anyplace… "OOH IT'S SO GOOD!!®"
