Memorial Held for 2 Girls Killed In '99 Crash

KFSN The Martin and Monis families put flower arrangements on a pair of crosses to mark the spot where Michelle Martin and Cheri Monis died in 1999.

The Fowler high school students died instantly after a big rig crashed into their Camaro.

Police say the man driving the 18-wheeler lost control and crossed the center divider, running into the Camaro and cutting it in two pieces.

Their fathers say visiting the crash site every year is part of their healing process. Mike Martin, victim's father, says "As a way to remember the girls and to do them honor and... It's hard to put into words why we come here. We just come because we love those two girls and we feel close to them here."

The Idaho driver who hit the girls was later convicted of drunk driving, with a blood alcohol content four times the legal level for truckers.
