Valley Mayor Accused in Lawsuit

KFSN Mayor Victor Lopez and the City of Orange Cove are named in the wrongful termination lawsuit.

Former Finance Director Odi Ortiz claims he was fired after investigating suspected corruption. But the Mayor and council members say they fired Ortiz this past summer because he had a bad attitude.

In court documents, Ortiz accuses the mayor's family of stealing from the city. Mayor Lopez denied his family and political supporters received free city services. "I start with my family. I'm a dog. I come after my family big time. They are going to respect the city and pay their bills and boy they better" said Lopez.

Mayor Lopez said his staff discovered wrong doing by Ortiz after he was fired, but declined to elaborate.

Ortiz claimed he can't find a job anywhere because city leaders spread vicious rumors about him.
