John Mellencamp blocks use of song

'Pink Houses' won't be played during campaign

John Mellencamp apparently isn't interested in having John McCain use his songs on the campaign trail. Mellencamp's publicist has sent a letter to McCain's presidential campaign, pointing out that Mellencamp is a liberal and had been backing Democrat John Edwards.

The publicists also says Mellencamp told him that the situation made him uncomfortable and he couldn't imagine McCain would want to be associated with him.

A McCain campaign spokesman says that Mellencamp's songs -- including "Our Country" and "Pink Houses" -- will no longer be played at campaign events.
