California, Mega Millions jackpots swell

LOS ANGELES (CNS) The jackpot for next Tuesday night's drawing will grow to $220 million, lottery officials said. The odds of picking the winning combination is exactly one in 175,711,536.

The California Lottery Commission said the 7-Eleven at 345 W. Manchester Ave., near Inglewood High School, sold a ticket with 5 of the 6 winning numbers. Similar tickets were also sold near Sacramento and near San Jose.

Four winning tickets in New York state, two each in Maryland and New Jersey, and one each in Michigan and Virginia were also sold, the Lottery said.

Mega Millions tickets are sold by the state lottery agencies in 10 states plus the District of Columbia.

Meanwhile, the jackpot for Saturday's California Super Lotto Plus lottery game has also swollen after several weeks with no winner: $74 million is at stakes in Saturday's California-only drawing.

The Mega Millions numbers drawn Friday night were 7, 11, 26, 30, 53 and the Mega number was 14.
